What to Know Before Submitting Admissions Documents

What You Should Know Before Sending in Your Admissions Documents

Here’s what you need to know as you start your application for chiropractic college:

Applying to Sherman College of Chiropractic is straightforward. You submit your application, personal statement, two letters of recommendation, and final official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduated institutions attended, and that’s it! Prospective students often tend to overcomplicate the essays and recommendation letters, so let’s explore these documents further to make this process even easier.

Personal Statement

Along with your chiropractic school application, you are required to submit a personal statement, which can be an essay or a video, with a minimum of 250 words. The topic for this statement will be provided in your application. Remember, more words don’t always mean a better essay; focus on the content instead. Also, we do not specify any particular formatting for your statement. Feel free to write it in a way that is most comfortable for you!

Letters of Recommendation

Along with your personal statement, we also need two letters of recommendation. While we prefer that at least one of these letters is from a chiropractor, it’s not required, and not having a letter from a D.C. will not hurt your chances of acceptance.

Letters of recommendation can be written by anyone in your life who is not a family member. Examples include a professor, former or current boss, coworker, pastor, mentor, and so on.

These recommendation letters can be sent either directly by the writer or through you, whichever is more convenient. They are important because they help us learn more about you and your work ethic, providing valuable insight into who you are as a person.

Official Transcripts

Sherman College requires you to submit official transcripts from every college you have attended. This helps us get a clear picture of your academic background and confirm that you are well prepared to succeed in our program. Official transcripts can be ordered through each institution and sent directly to Sherman College.
