Inman, SC, chiropractor and educator Mitzi Schwartzbauer, D.C., A.C.P., has been honored with the Spirit of Sherman College Award from her alma mater, Sherman College of Chiropractic, in Spartanburg, SC. The Spirit of Sherman College Award is presented to Sherman graduates who exemplify the true spirit of Sherman College in their professional lives.

A 1996 Sherman College graduate, Dr. Schwartzbauer joined the Sherman College faculty in 2003 and continues to practice part-time in Inman, SC. She previously practiced in Minnesota and worked as the team chiropractor for the St. Paul Saints.

Author and co-author of several research publications, she completed Sherman College’s Academy of Chiropractic Philosophers course in 2007, and she presented on her thesis topic of Tone for the ACP program in 2008. She has taught seminars on upper cervical technique, Sherman Package analysis systems, and pediatrics. Dr. Schwartzbauer has volunteered as firefighter and EMT, is a certified doula, and is the mother of two daughters.

“Dr. Schwartzbauer’s long-term contributions to the college and her loyalty to the profession are incredible and set a wonderful example for her students,” said Sherman College President Edwin Cordero, D.C. “She knows the principles, mission, and duty of chiropractic as locating, analyzing, and correcting vertebral subluxations but nothing else.”

Sherman College named its 2018 award recipients May 3-5 as part of Lyceum, an annual continuing education and homecoming event attended by hundreds of chiropractors and students throughout the U.S. and internationally. Lyceum is held each spring in Spartanburg, SC, and involves three days of seminars, special events, and other programs; this year more than 700 were in attendance.
