Sherman College Lyceum, Showcase Events Engage Visitors, Community

Later this week, approximately 500 chiropractors and 60 prospective students from around the world will descend on Spartanburg as Sherman College of Chiropractic kicks off its 42nd annual homecoming and continuing education eventThe event is held each May on the college’s campus in north Spartanburg and involves three days of seminars, reunions, alumni events and more.

Additional Lyceum events with the college’s “Delivering the Goods” theme include a Student Olympics competition and fund-raiser, a donor recognition event, alumni reunions, volunteer training and an international-themed banquet to close the weekend.

The college also hosts a number of special events open to the public, including a career event (Showcase Sherman) for prospective students, a golf tournament, and a 5K race:

  • Golf Scramble – Wednesday, April 29, at 1:00 p.m. at Village Greens Golf Course.
    Enjoy a day of golf at Village Greens Golf Course while supporting the World Congress of Chiropractic Students and the Delta Sigma Chi chiropractic fraternity. Prizes will be awarded for best score, longest drive and closest to the pin. Cost is $60. Fees include 18 holes of golf, cart rental, and box lunch.   • Partnership Agreement Signing – Friday, May 1, at 10:30 a.m.
    Advancing its vision of bringing chiropractic to the world, Sherman College will be signing an articulation agreement with Universidad de Iberoamerica (UNIBE) of San José, Costa Rica. UNIBE President Dr. Emma Grace Hernandez and Provost/Vice-Chancellor for Global Strategies Dr. Roberto Rodriguez will be in attendance, along with Sherman College President Dr. Edwin Cordero. Sherman College continually seeks to secure admission and transfer agreements that present an attractive option for students who hope to reach their career goals faster and enjoy a career that plays a significant role in health promotion.
  • Showcase Sherman for Prospective Students – Friday and Saturday, May 1-2, starting at 8 a.m.
    About 60 prospective students plus their guests will visit Sherman to discover why Fast Company, Career Cast, and other organizations repeatedly name chiropractic as a top job. Attendees of this free program will learn what it takes to begin a fulfilling career as a doctor of chiropractic; attend informative chiropractic sessions; meet chiropractors, faculty and current students; and hear about the key roles that chiropractic and Sherman College have played in their lives. College faculty will lead a hands-on chiropractic technique presentation, and prospective students can have transcripts evaluated and learn more about financial aid, job placement, available scholarships and local apartments.   • “Commit to Be Fit” 5K Race – Saturday, May 2, on the campus; race begins at 8 a.m.
    Sherman College’s annual 5K race, sponsored by the World Congress of Chiropractic Students and the Athletic Club, starts and ends in the roundabout at the main entrance of Sherman College at 2020 Springfield Road in Boiling Springs. Entry fee is $25, and prizes will be awarded to first and second place for men and women in the following categories: 19 and under, 20-39, and 40 plus.
